Librarian

Anyone who has ever worked in an open office knows that these hip and cool looking tech spaces are nightmares for anyone trying to think; presumably that’s most people working in a tech company. Personally I feel like I’ve been awake for days by the end of a work day owing to the need to try and filter out all of the background noise. Combined with the constant stream of emails, meetings, chats, alerts, and whatever else crops up, it’s a wonder that there’s time to actually produce output.

Thankfully, there are lots of tools to manage everything else; but there’s not much that can be done to communicate to noisy coworkers that their really exciting conversation happens to be making it’s way through your noise-cancelling headphones and wiggling into that rather complicated thought you were trying to have. Until now.

Libraries used to be great places to get work done, knowing that a loving sentinel was standing silent watch, waiting to “shush” anyone who dared interrupt that sacred space of mind. Let’s bring them back! Automation can’t be rude, so there’s no need to worry about offending the more vocal thinkers among us.

This idea also comes equipped with windowed focus indicators, and a configurable web interface for easy tuning. In theory, a bunch could be made to sync accross an office so that you could cluster your company’s productivity around “standardized best practices”.™
